Whether you have a paid-off, older-model Sonata in your driveway or you've never taken the wheel of this sedan in your life, the new 2026 Hyundai Sonata trim levels are definitely worth exploring, so today, that's exactly what Jim Ellis Hyundai is doing. Six variants complete the 2026 Sonata lineup, and each brings unique standard features to the road.
First, we'll explore trims in MSRP order; below, we'll dive into gas vs. hybrid performance and compare specs in a helpful chart. Click over to our other page to explore Hyundai Sonata colors, which are the same on the outside, but not on the inside.
Note: If you're familiar with the 2025 Sonata family, you might notice that 2026 Hyundai Sonata SEL and 2026 Hyundai Sonata SEL Convenience trims are missing from this list. That's because these two variants have been combined in 2026 to create the loaded SEL Sport.

Leading off this Hyundai Sonata trim comparison are the lineup's three non-hybrid variants: SE, SEL Sport, and N Line. These gas-powered beauties are some of our customers' favorites!
Even without hybrid power on board, the Sonata SE delivers an EPA-estimated 28/38/32 MPG (City/Highway/Combined),1 but that's not the only reason we love this sedan. Standard technology includes remote start via Bluelink+, SiriusXM® radio, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™. The SE also keeps kids happy with a rear-center armrest that features two cupholders.

Test-drive an SEL Sport to experience Shift-by-Wire gear selection with rapid-fire downshifts on tight corners. The "Sport" portion of this trim's name also lets you know that, even at higher speeds, this sedan is comfortable. Acoustic front door glass suppresses road noise, wireless smartphone charging helps declutter the SEL Sport cabin, and side mirrors are heated for quick defrosting.

The N Line may have the lowest fuel economy of this group, but it has the most athletic prowess. This trim is the only one fitted with a turbocharged engine, which means it has the highest horsepower and torque outputs, too. Using oil to continuously cool the clutch packs, the Sonata N Line takes off aggressively and seamlessly changes gears. Even its fender-mounted LED turn signal and twin-tip exhaust say this car is serious about speed.

With some of the most affordable MSRPs on the market, the 2026 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid trim levels are proving that electrified excellence doesn't have to come with a high-end price tag.
The primary reason to choose a Blue Hybrid model is its fuel efficiency, which surpasses every other trim level in the 2026 family with its incredible EPA-estimated 47/56/51 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1 The cabin is fitted with premium cloth upholstery, a 12.3-inch center touchscreen, and Bluetooth®. We're also big fans of this trim's steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

We love the SEL Hybrid for its wireless device charging, plus there's no better way to enjoy the summer sun than with this model's panoramic sunroof. Air vents in both rows keep everyone cozy or cool, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel feels supple in your hands. Heated front seats come standard, and the power driver's lumbar support is great for fighting commuter fatigue.

The main difference between the Sonata hybrid SEL vs. Limited trims is standard vs. luxury convenience. The Limited Hybrid adds ventilated front seats, Dynamic Voice Recognition, Hyundai Pay, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear-window sunshades, dual 12.3-inch displays, LED interior lights, ambient lighting, Highway Driving Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist to every drive.

Non-hybrid, gas-only cars have just one battery – a traditional 12-volt – that often makes them easier and less expensive to maintain and repair. Starting MSRPs are usually lower for non-hybrids, but fuel economy tends to be a lot lower.
Sonata hybrids capture energy that would otherwise be wasted and use it to increase Hyundai Sonata MPG. With 12-volt and 270-volt batteries working in tandem, Sonata repair costs may be higher over the life of the vehicle, but the fuel savings will generally far surpass that expense.
