Hyundai Wins the Big Game Auto Ad Wars

While some automakers gambled on long, emotional or quirky Big Game ads, Hyundai's commercials were the most effective drivers of web traffic, reports CNN Money. The automotive websites Edmunds.com and AutoTrader.com analyzed Internet traffic during the Big Gamel to see which ads resulted in large traffic surges during the broadcast. The big winner ? at least in terms of immediate interest ? was Hyundai, which saw a 738 percent increase in traffic to Edmunds.com pages about its Santa Fe model after the company's ad hit the air. On AutoTrader.com, the increase was even bigger, with Web site interest rising over 1,000 percent. One Santa Fe ad, featuring the recently re-designed seven-seat version of the SUV, depicted a young boy and his mother gathering a group of friends to confront some bullies at a local park. Another ad, which aired just before the start of the game, depicted parents and kids on an outrageous outing in a Santa Fe. On AutoTrader.com, the next big winner after the Santa Fe was the Kia Forte compact car from Hyundai's Korean sister-brand.

Costa Mesa, Calif.- The 2012 Hyundai Veloster  has been named one of the "10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000" by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. Editors of the trusted new- and used- car information resource applauded the three door coupe for its innovative technology and unique styling. 

"Packed with a unique brand of versatility, innovative technology and left-field styling, the Hyundai Veloster challenges the status quo to a duel," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. "The 3-door Veloster- one on the driver's side, two on the other- is among the most distinctive cars available at any price."

Two criteria, fun-to-drive and fun-to-own, are critical among the deciding factors of what the kbb.com editors freely admit is a very subjective "cool factor." Each vehicle on the list is available for purchase at $18,000 or less, using Kelley Blue Book's exclusive Fair Purchase Price as the yardstick. Kelley Blue Book's Fair Purchase Price is the price consumers typically pay for a car, based on actual new-vehicle transactions and updated weekly for changing market conditions.
